Well, got out hunting this morning before work at 8 am. Luckily, my buddy had all morning and agreed to pick up the decoys later so I could just leave.

Anyways, finally got my first goose after mising a couple earlier. The pair we shot wanted to go into a pond across the road but some hard calling brought em back around and got em locked up. Then of course I winged the sucker and had to sprint after it to go get it. Oh well. Was worth it! Goin again tomorrow morning. Switched out my choke to hopefully tighten the pattern a bit and drop em like a rock!

For any interested, my goose gun is a Mossberg 835. I generally load her up with 3 inch BB, but had some 3.5's on hand and bought more tonight cause they were on sale. I like the extra pellets that the 3.5's offer with steel.

Wild goose I tend to use in either chili or a heavily seasoned stew. The birds are very inconsistant in flavor. One will be delicious and tender, the next tough and extremely gamey.

I also like to slice it thin, and quickly sear it in oil and butter and eat it mid rare. But if its one of them gamey birds, this doesnt work so well.
