Well,
I shoot single actions for two reasons; 1) because i really like single actions and 2)I shoot CAS and they would frown on a 1911 being used in their matches :D

I have owned 4 during my lifetime. A Virginian Dragoon in 44 Mag, Ruger Blackhawk in 357, Ruger Single Six and a Ruger Vaquero Stainless 5 1/2" in 45LC. The Vaquero was my favorite.

My favorite fun guns! I currently shoot three Ruger SAs: a 5.5" Super Single Six (.22LR/.22 Magnum)with Ruger "faux ivory" grips, a 4 5/8" Blackhawk (.357 Magnum/9mm) and a Super Blackhawk (.44 Magnum) with a 4 5/8" barrel. The BH & SBH have Ajax Ivory Polymer grips. All three have had trigger jobs. Actually I'm leaving for the range in a half hour to shoot the first two! Dennis

I love single action. The 44 mag and 357 mag. are my favorites. The reason is the range of loads for each. Ruger Super Blackhawk, Ruger Vicquaro (SP) and 357 Ruger Black Hawk. I cast all my bullets from wheel weights and load all my ammo. Most of my guns have never seen a factory load or jacketed bullet.

I must be livin' right. First kv4v starts a topic about N frame Smiths, one of the two great loves of my gun collecting life, and now Jim starts one about single action revolvers, my other love. :)
My first real gun was a single action and I have been hooked ever since.

I've got a pair of Colt SAA's in .45 Colt. They are never shot and I have them because........well, their Colt SAA's.

Assorted Colt SAA clones all in either .44 Special or .44-40. Most of these I picked up because I love single actions, they were found cheap and I can not afford to shoot genuine Colts.

A couple of Virginia Dragoons. A 7.5", .357 mag and a 5.5" .44 mag.. To be honest I can no longer even remember where I got these but do remember that they were cheap at the time and.....well, their single actions. At first I hated the feel and the over size frames/grips. But I have narrowed the grips on one considerably and it doesn't feel too bad now.

A Super Blackhawk 10.5", in .44 mag as are all Super BH's. I got it because I found it for 140 bucks and talked the seller into paying the shipping and.......well, it's a single action. It is the most accurate of the lot and would make a great deer gun. But Bambi and I reached an understanding a long time ago and I leave him alone and thus far he has kept up his end of the bargin and has not attacked me in my sleep.

Six Ruger Vaqueros all custom chambered in dual .44 mag/.44-40 caiber with 4.625" barrels. (One pair is going to be cut to 3" as soon as I find the time.) I fell in love with the Vaquero when they first hit the market. Here was a gun reminiscent of the legendary and venerable Colt SAA that is strong and affordable allowing the owner to shoot the Hell out of. I choose the short barrels for the same reason. But after looking at fal308's 7.5" guns in blue with the stag grips I have this longing for a pair with the long barrels.

Then there are all of the Colt reproduction cap and balls. I never shoot them any more but to my eye there is still nothing more beautiful than a Colt cap and ball. This is evident in the fact that I have pimped one pair of 1851 Navies with nickle plating and pearl grips. There are a dozen or so of the Colt clones scattered around the house.

There is one lone Colt Scout commemorative that was worn out years ago that now hangs on the wall waiting patiently for restoration.

An assortment of those dirt cheap German made .22 single actions scattered about just because they were cheap to buy, cheap to shoot and.....they are single actions.

Unless I've forgotten someone the only other one I can think of in the house is a North American Arms mini revolver. I'm not sure if it really counts in this but they are a nice little gun and they are single action.

Well, right now I only have one, Ruger Super Single Six, but plan to shop for a Blackhawk at the Dallas gun shows next month.

I'm wanting one of the dual cylinder (.357/9mm) models with the 4 5/8" barrel length.

Wish me luck. :D

I have always loved single actions. All Rugers except for one FA in .454. Love to shoot the big ones .44 and .45. Also have a 22 convertable. Great shooter with .22, but only so-so with .22 Mags. I enjoy very long range shooting with the SA's. Up to what ever the course will allow. Dont carry one with my CCW (too big)!

Welcome to the board qhorseman, you'll like the company here. I gather the "q" stands for "quarter"? :)

It has been a while since I had a SA wheelgun. I miss them! I love Vaqueros. When I get back into SA's, my first pair will probably be some stainless Vaqueros in 357 Magnum.

I have always enjoyed SA Colts. At one time I owned six of them. Now I only have one, a second generation, nickel, 43/4 barrel .45 Colt with carved ivory grips. When I was a LEO(part time) I used to wear Justin cowboy boots and carry this revolver. Bob

The best shooting single action I ever had was was a Ruger Bisley .32H&R Magnum. I lost it in one of those trades where I figured I would get it back when the "tradee" needed a few bucks. Didn't work out that way. Now I have a Blackhawk .45 that shoots good too but I sure wish I had that little .32 back!

I actually really enjoy mine. I only have two BP .44's and the .45LC Vaquero. I don't know what it is, but you have to be a "gunslinger" every now and then.

Two BP's, loaded and capped, firing with one in each hand. Too cool (great) in my opinion. The way the thumb and the trigger finger has to work as one.

The Vaquero.... okay, who here has practiced "fast draw" (but with unloaded gun or snap caps) in the mirror? I hate to say it, but I am a boy at heart. And I spent more money on the holster for it then any other.

Fanning don't work for me, but I'm double jointed in the thumb, and I ain't too shab.

Couldn't even imagine being as good as the dude on the Shooter program.

It is a load that I would trust (.45LC). The West was won with it (granted, everyone else didn't have semi-autos) but I would enjoy getting more proficient with it.. and faster :D .

We all should have at least one, right? When I finally OD on used S&Ws, I'm gonna knuckle down for a Bisley in .45LC. :D

Like I said in an earlier thread I'm starting to like wheelguns. And the "lefty-friendliness" of SA revolvers would make them a very good candidates for purchase. But somehow, even though I'm starting to get more used to the feel of a wheelgun in my hand (found a nice Ruger .22 that really felt good in my hand!), I just can't get a decent grip whenever I try picking up a SA wheelgun. Do they just need way more time to get used to them (being previously used only to pistols) or is there something more going on? It would be too bad if I'd have to forget ever owning a SA because of the grips... :(

I guess since I started this I should say something about mine. Right now I have four SAs but they are all from Germany. Three were made by J. P. Sauer & Sohns, the other by Herbert Schmidt. The Schmidt is a 357 Magnum the others are 22, 45LC and 44magnum.
