Time is moving right along and almost forgot to post here about our gathering by the range 16-18 Oct. Looking like our biggest ever as lots of "newbies" are coming. Am compiling a list of those wanting cabins(off line) so let me know asap. Here is a link with past pics/info-- http://carolinashootersforum.com/showthread.php?t=76837
If it will not open then let me know via PM asap. Looking forward to a great weekend and meeting lots of new folks. This is going to be fun as usual for the entire family. We have been having these for ten+ years at Camp Millstone. Now the cabins are AC/heated W/double baths and duo pane windows. Real nice and comfy. For questions just PM or E me. There are two pages of info at that link and a link there for pics of past events. Don't miss this. Lots of info/classes and all free. Stuff that costs you an arm and leg other places. Unarmed self-defense, canning, cooking, game preps, point or snap shooting, Dutch Oven cooking, and what ever anyone else wants to share--BS circles are a given--LOl. Come and enjoy a quiet relaxing fun filled weekend even if on a shoe string budget. Cabins are cheap, food/meals are great, and we try to keep costs under $20-kids free. Can't beat that anywhere-even at home. Plus you get to meet like minded folks who are preparing for their families future in hard times. If our "resident" nuke expert can come we may have another class on fallout/chem spills/ hazardous materials. He does a bang up job at it. Let me know asap if you want a cabin or tent/RV free.

That sounds like fun!! I've got limited internet at work, so I couldn't see very much of it. It's about 6 hours from me. When's the deadline? Gotta check on a few things.

LOL, no deadline on the cabins. We have two with wheelchair ramps that we hold and about 7 or 8 unoccupied cabins or partially empty. Some of the younger crowd usually take one or two on the far ends. Let us know by the end of Sept. as we try to have plans fairly firm by then. We had a rally near Augusta, Ga. many years ago and enjoyed it so much that we rented the local 4-H camp. We have enjoyed it "to the max" for several years. This place is super, nice dining hall, rec hall, lake w/canoes, several nice ranges w/covered shooting areas, trails, little "waterfall" w/foot bridge, swinging bridge over the lake, nice fire circles, remote tenting areas if desired, athletic field, and a big bell we ring for meals and other events. The kids have a blast ringing it. It has everything needed for folks to have a great time. The camp staff is just super and the only thing they ask is that we leave it as we found it--or cleaner. We always sweep out the cabins and keep the trash picked up. Kids sometimes forget that there are trashcans but that is just "par for the course". They are only kids once. Aleena will be back with her "pink 22" looking to best the boys at the targets again. There should be some stiff competition at the ranges for us big kids too.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I really want to do it. Gotta talk to my wife. She's all about stuff like that anyway, so I'm sure she's in. Have you had any other interest from people here? I know we're spread out quite a bit, so it's not terribly easy.

Gosh, time is flying. Only three weeks away. One of the folks is going to do a jerky making class from our freshly skinned deer/goat and we will be showing how to can meat also. Hands on reloading for those interested in getting started. We may have time to do another "field" first aid class covering the basics. Long term storage demo for foods or what ever. Ranges open constantly. Canoes for the young and young at heart(use the vests per camp policy). Any firearms not holstered need to be open chambered or "flagged" for everyone's safety. I have a hole in me from an "empty" pistol.
Ga9, tell me what caliber you want to look at and will bring one--lol, long as it is an '06--just jesting.
Word of caution--the deer population is terrible around camp so drive slowly from Ellerbe in. It is not unusual to see herds crossing even in the day time. Maybe we can thin them a bit. We will keep a light on for you.

Oct. finally is here and the gathering just two weeks away. Folks coming in from Ala, Penn, Tenn, and several other states. Looking like the best ever. Several are doing "classes" on various subjects and if you have a specialty please let us know asap. These gatherings are a fine opportunity to gain great knowledge about survival type subjects. Some of these folks are truly knowledgeable of skills. There will be several types of reloaders set up and folks to teach them. If you have never processed an animal then this is your chance to see it first hand. Canning/drying/Jerky making will be covered. Long term storage of food or what ever and Bug out Bags/kits will be on display plus containerized gear for long term survival. If you don't want your family to become a refugee then be sure to come. We all may need each other at some point.

Travel tip: avoid North Charlotte/Concord/Kannapolis area. There is a race this weekend and congestion is guaranteed. Go around Char. on 485 South toward Pineville around to the highway 218 exit. Great two lane road with only two stops for the next 40 miles. Comes out on 74 in Polkton then on to Rockingham-220 north-bypass to Millstone Rd-right to Millstone(@4-5 miles) on left. Mallard Drive and come to the dining hall past the guest house and ball field.
ETA: if coming from the north hit 52 in Salisbury to Albemarle then 73 to Ellerbe. Come into town and go left at Moma Mia's Pizze(across from Citgo). Watch for signs about Camp Millstone. You can take 64 above Thomasville to Ashboro then 220 South to Ellerbe and Millstone rd.
ETA: From the East--turn west off #1 at Hoffman(store and fire dept) to Millstone rd then about 10 miles to camp.
Watch for deer as you will be near state forest lands and deep woods.
