Finally got the first goose of the season

Well, got out hunting this morning before work at 8 am. Luckily, my buddy had all morning and agreed to pick up the decoys later so I could just leave.

Anyways, finally got my first goose after mising a couple earlier. The pair we shot wanted to go into a pond across the road but some hard calling brought em back around and got em locked up. Then of course I winged the sucker and had to sprint after it to go get it. Oh well. Was worth it! Goin again tomorrow morning. Switched out my choke to hopefully tighten the pattern a bit and drop em like a rock!

For any interested, my goose gun is a Mossberg 835. I generally load her up with 3 inch BB, but had some 3.5's on hand and bought more tonight cause they were on sale. I like the extra pellets that the 3.5's offer with steel.

Tact: Making someone feel at home when you wish they were.

"The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them." Patrick Henry

Our enemies have trained our teachers and professors. Our teachers have trained our children.

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. " Thomas Jefferson

“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams

Hey that was my question.

" Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." Daniel Webster U.S. Senator fron NY(1850)

Wild goose I tend to use in either chili or a heavily seasoned stew. The birds are very inconsistant in flavor. One will be delicious and tender, the next tough and extremely gamey.

I also like to slice it thin, and quickly sear it in oil and butter and eat it mid rare. But if its one of them gamey birds, this doesnt work so well.
