Marvelous!
If you are short of 'ground', but have vertical space:

Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners, is more significant than a riot." -Robert Heinlein Live your life in such a way that in the morning, when your feet hit the floor, Satan shudders and says... yes it is! also very easy to keep your lettuce out of the hot mid day sun.
the other day I harvested 177 cherry tomatoes from 4 plants of the same type. this just after getting 90 of them just 2 days before. I am in cherry tomato heaven! |

I know it's early. but I'm starting to get the growing bug. over the winter I had some sweet peppers growing in containers near a big south facing window. I'm going to be trying some new varieties this year.

We added A carport to our back yard so have A complete change in our back yard garden. We will have A raised garden bed for one thing. Any ideas for flowers or flowering vine to plant around the carport would be appreciated.

so does anyone know a good organic way to get rid of little white flies on indoor plants? I have some tomato plants and pepper plants growing inside. they all have fruits on them. and these little white flies are killing the plants and leaving sticky stuff all over the place near the plants. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I tried peet pellets for the first time this year to start seeds, and they seem to work extremely well. too bad I didn't try them before now.

it has been raining too much here the past 2 weeks. the ground got absolutely soaked! there was standing water everywhere. now is slightly better. I went out yesterday to transplant some tomato plants. some in the ground and the dwarf tomato plants in a pot. I planted some "pineapple" tomatoes in the ground. when I dug down about 6 inches it was just mud... still very wet. but I tried 6 plants so we'll see what happens.
in the pot I planted Red Robin which only gets about 9 to 12 inches tall. also I got 3 ripe "lime green salad" tomatoes today from plants i was growing indoors over the winter. soooo tasty! |

I lost most of the plants I had in the ground. we had a frost sunday night/monday morning and all but 2 or 3 out of around 45 tomato plants died. the smaller "determinate" plants i had in pots so brought them inside and they are fine. luckily I have more tomato plants just about ready to be put in the ground. I may plant more seeds of the varieties I lost and just get a late harvest from them.
